Julie is an artist based in Poole, Dorset, whose work is deeply inspired by the natural beauty of her surroundings. Her paintings follow the rhythm of the seasons, capturing landscapes, seascapes, and wildflowers with a distinctive blend of fluidity and texture. Working with a range of mediums—from flowing paint to thick impasto brushwork—Julie reflects the contrasts and harmony of the coastlines and rolling hills that define Dorset.
Her art radiates a sense of calm. In moments when life feels overwhelming, she retreats to her studio—a quiet space where she can reconnect, recharge, and find stillness through creativity.
“Through fluid landscape paintings, I capture the shifting seasons of nature, drawing inspiration from the beauty of Dorset. My unique techniques create organic, flowing forms that invite a sense of calm and connection with the natural world.”
Julie’s passion for creativity began early—ever since she could hold a pencil, she’s been expressing herself through drawing. She studied art and graphics in the late 1980s, during the days of drawing boards and thick Pantone markers, when translating ideas by hand was essential. Her grounding in drawing, colour theory, composition, typography, photography, and print continues to shape her artistic practice today.
In 2018 Julie took a teaching qualification to deliver workshops from her studio in Dorset and in 2020 she set up a YouTube channel to record her journey into the world of Fluid Art.
Julie began painting full-time during COVID, taking part in Dorset Arts Week and exhibiting at various events including Highcliffe Food and Arts Festival.
In September 2023 along with Chris Schneider and Monique Oliver, she helped organise and deliver the first UK Fluid Art Event. Julie is currently planning an artists retreat in October of this year for UK Fluid Artists again with Chris Schneider. A member of Dorset Artists Guild and Dorset Visual Arts.
